Mo Livin' Large

Single mid-thirty-something plus-size woman living her life. Large.

“So much of life, it seems to me, is determined by pure randomness.”

May 16, 2011

Thank you, Mr. Sidney Poitier, for my quote of the day.

Lately I've been floating around cyberspace reading various blogs. I quite enjoy The Big Girl Blog, written by CeCe, a plus size princess (PSP) living in New York, and recently I tripped across This Broken Heart Has Hope, written by a 28 year old single girl who lives in a big city (seriously, that's all she has in her "about me" section). One of TBHHH's posts really tickled my fancy, and without further ado, I'm going to copy her style and make it my own. So here are a few random facts about me.

  • I once carjacked my own mother. We were on our way to a funeral and she was driving too slow. Because she had no idea where she was going, I made my Dad drive my car, I jumped in the driver's seat of hers, and made her crawl over the console to the passenger seat. My dad still laughs about it and my mom still bitches me out about it more than six years later.
  • Cookbooks fascinate me. But they must contain pictures. And I truly believe that the less  you pay for a cookbook, the better the recipes.
  • My mother once told me to make sure I didn't go to a pizza parlor for a first date. This is probably because I peel all the toppings off my pizza, eat the dough and crust, and then eat the toppings. I do the same with chicken with skin on it, especially KFC and Chicken Shack.
  • The first (and pretty much only) Christmas I was married, my husband got me two jars of olives. Yes, you read that correctly. Two. Jars. Of. Olives. No vodka, though. Cheap ass.
  • I enjoy musicals. Most especially Sound of Music, the original Music Man, Guys and Dolls, and West Side Story.
  • One of my favorite things to do when I'm alone in the house is blast music and dance around, sometimes naked. Sorry for that visual for those of you who actually know me.
  • I went on a first date with a guy in the Army. It was also our last date. He took offense to the fact I knew more about Band of Brothers than he did.
  • In another emasculation story…. In college, a guy I was dating took offense to the fact that I use big words, frequently, in conversation. I defended my actions by saying, "It's my Constitutional right!" His response? "There you go, using big words again. Like anyone even knows what Constitutional means!"
  • Right now, the most important person in my life to me is my little sister, Meagan. This is in spite of the fact that my cat Cosmo likes her better than me.
  • One of the most annoying things about guys in general, in my not so humble opinion, is their inability to say what's really going on inside their heads while under the disillusionment that they're God's gift to us.
  • I have an addiction to paper products. I own more books, magazines, gift wrap, notebooks, and crafting supplies than any sane person should.
  • I believe that had Detroit had better management to run it, our city could be an architectural wonder.
  • One of my closest friends, Brande', once said that my four major food groups are meat, salt, butter and cheese. She's probably right.
  • My absolute favorite place in the entire world (as of right now) is not Chicago, but Mackinac Island.

And thus concludes one of my favorite topics: me.  🙂
